Hi, my name is Dr. Steven Roth from SmilesNY in New York City, and today I'm going to tell you a little bit about what a porcelain veneer is. A porcelain veneer is a thin porcelain shell made by a talented ceramist to make it look beautiful, and we slightly modify your teeth and bond on the porcelain shell. We can create a new smile. When veneers make your teeth look bulky like Chiclets, it's usually because they're not done properly. At SmilesNY we've done thousands of cases through the years. The beautiful thing about veneers is they're literally only a half a millimeter thick, and once they're bonded onto your tooth, your tooth is actually stronger. It's rare that people ever have problems with it. They're really great because they're a bonded onto the tooth and when they're bonded, it's very rare that they can ever get tooth decay underneath so, in many people, it's to help protect them against further decay.
