What are porcelain veneers?

What are porcelain veneers?

Trabscription

Dr. Steven Roth:
Hi, my name is Dr. Steven Roth from SmilesNY in New York City, and today I'm going to tell you a little bit about what a porcelain veneer is. A porcelain veneer is a thin porcelain shell made by a talented ceramist to make it look beautiful, and we slightly modify your teeth and bond on the porcelain shell. We can create a new smile. We can create a new look. We can replace one discolored teeth. We could change your bite, and we can make you have a better life.

Dr. Steven Roth:
When veneers make your teeth look bulky like Chiclets, it's usually because they're not done properly. At SmilesNY we've done thousands of cases through the years. We have veneers on Oscar-winning actors and actresses. We have veneers on professional athletes and news people and on regular people just like yourselves who may be watching.

Dr. Steven Roth:
The great thing about beautiful veneers is many times people don't even know. They just think you look great. I think the best compliment you can get when you've had a smile done is, "You look great, but I don't know what you did." That's really the goal of our cases.

Dr. Chase:
The great thing about porcelain videos is we can make them look any way that you want them to look. Some people want their teeth to be bright white and Hollywood looking. Other people want veneers to be done so that you can't even notice that anything was done at all. It just helps your teeth be stronger and more protected. The great thing about the way that we do veneers here is everything is individual. We don't have a look. We allow people to help design and plan everything from shape to shade to alignment. There's been some cases where people want teeth to look a little unperfect, and we're able to do that for you. And if you want them to look perfect right away, we can do that as well.

Dr. Chase:
Veneers are not only used for cosmetics. Veneers can be used if a person has chipped, cracked, or worn teeth, as well as people who have spacing between their teeth, discolored teeth or teeth that have been worn over time, and we can help restore your natural bite by using the porcelain veneers to bring back a nice youthful smile.

Dr. Steven Roth:
The beautiful thing about veneers is they're literally only a half a millimeter thick, and once they're bonded onto your tooth, your tooth is actually stronger. It's rare that people ever have problems with it. They're really great because they're a bonded onto the tooth and when they're bonded, it's very rare that they can ever get tooth decay underneath so, in many people, it's to help protect them against further decay.
